ABOUT

The swimming community within Canada's National Capital Region numbers in the thousands, and includes people participating in age-groups clubs, collegiate-level clubs, triathlon clubs, masters clubs, and recreational swimmers looking to keep fit. The area also boasts a number of swim events and races, two of which are part of the Global Swim Series (GSS) and attract participants from around the world. The community is vibrant, supportive, and grows stronger with each passing year.

The National Capital Open Water Swimmers Alliance (NCOWSA) was formed to promote and support these swimmers and the activity of open water swimming within the Region, and focuses its efforts on the following objectives:

• Providing a forum for open discussion and mutual support of the common goals of its membership;

• Advocating for community environment and policies that support open water swimming in the Region;

• Strengthening the visibility and importance of swimming for physical, emotional and social well-being;

• Building linkages between formal and informal organizations within the swimming community; and

• Improving communication and availability of resources to swimmers.

A Committee is in place to represent NCOWSA membership and to execute the objectives of the NCOWSA. Members are engaged for their input into the process via information and updates posted on this website, the Facebook group, or by email.
